Want to know more about power flushing?

Your engineer will use a dedicated flushing pump, which uses high volume, velocity and low pressure to clean through your system. Specialist chemicals are used to loosen then mobilise any scale deposits in your pipes and radiators, effectively removing any stubborn coatings to the inside of your system and then flushing them out. The chemicals used to power flush your system will be chosen to suit its exact requirements. It will be power flushed methodically and thoroughly, pipe by pipe, radiator by radiator, including the boiler. Once your whole system has been power flushed thoroughly we will refill it with clean water, and a corrosive inhibitor will be added to your central heating system. This will be clearly labeled as containing this chemical substance. Power, or system, flushing usually takes a day to complete, but the timing depends on the number of radiators, and the type of system you have.

System flushing the system will not harm it. But power flushing will not repair any existing internal corrosion, and the removal of deposits may expose small leaks. On rare occasions we do see that a leak may show which had been previously blocked by the deposits. These leaks can be remedied.

Gas and Central Heating Tips

  • Don’t heat unused space. Spare rooms or corridors don’t need to be kept as warm as areas in which people spend long periods of time.
  • Keep doors and windows closed, and draught-proof, in cold weather. If you’re too hot, try turning the heat down first. In warmer weather, when the heating is off anyway, you can let more air in.
  • Thick carpets and underlay help stop heat escaping through concrete floors
